WE HAVE A NEW HYDROPONICS LAB!

We are so excited to share that we are incorporating a hydroponic farming enrichment class with our Greenhouse Classroom teacher, Mrs. Hubner, and our new partners at NY Sun Works. Students in Grades 2-5 will be visiting the lab once a week. There, they will be growing vegetables and fruits, leafy greens, and herbs, while learning how to grow a greener future with science and sustainability education. We can’t wait to share our harvest with you!

HYDRO-WHAT?

Hydroponics is a way to grow food using only very little water and no soil. The crops grow faster, and because we farm indoors, we can harvest year round!

DID YOU KNOW?

Students who receive hands-on environmental science education develop:

  • Critical thinking skills
  • Empathy and leadership skills
  • Passion for learning
  • Deeper scientific knowledge

SCIENCE YOU CAN EAT

This classroom can grow a variety of fruits and vegetables all year long!

BUGS IN THE CLASSROOM

We don’t use any pesticides, so ladybugs will be helping us by fighting pests. Worms will help us by eating organic waste and turning it into compost.
