MUSIC Ms. Bateman

In music classes with Ms. Bateman, students will learn critical skills that carry into other disciplines such as self expression, communication and cooperation with others, fine motor skillscreativity, and critical thinking, among many other things.  They will be performing, responding, and connecting to music by singing or playing percussion instruments and violin.  Students will learn how to produce a proper tone, sing or play pitches with the correct intonation, and will work closely on the skills necessary to play together as an ensemble.   Students will explore the different elements of music and the various artists/genres of music and will connect their learning to other disciplines, historical events, and cultural aspects of their own lives.  Students are regularly motivated to compose and improvise music in the classroom.  Children will be encouraged to practice at home and will have the opportunity to elevate their learning if they choose by joining the after-school orchestra at PS 160.
